Action Extravaganza! (2007-10-04)
Swordfish is the new action extravaganza stars Hugh Jackson of X-Men fame as our hero and John Travolta as the slick creepy bad guy. The movie has a great opening scene and doesn’t slow down much during the whole film. This is what Gomer calls an “Ira” movie. Lots of action, good effects, an extra good good guy, and an extra bad bad guy. And when you throw in some blatant nudity by Halle Berry to draw in the young males (and old males) you have a fun summer movie.
Travolta doesn’t stretch far from his normal arrogant villain persona that he paraded in Broken Arrow and Face-off. He sports a new hair cut and some unique facial hair, but he hams it up as the ultra cool baddy who is out to take over the world. Hugh Jackson, who was last seen as Wolverine in X-men, was a nice change of pace. This aussie is following in the Russell Crowe mold of brooding coolness. He plays a computer hacker, who can also take a punch.
The story is not unique and the twists won’t catch you off guard, but the special effects are cool and the acting is solid. The rooster is crowing. It’s not very loud, but it will wake you up.

|
Wow, this was one terrible movie. The gratuitous violence during the car chase was absolutely over-done. The shady characters were typical stereotype thugs. Travolta just was as bad (acting-wise) as... (More)

When I read the poorly written crybaby review Jeff Shannon used to inform potentially interested viewers I had to write my own review.
