Senseless Fun. Yeah, Baby (2007-10-02)
First we had that big rainstorm that washed out almost 15 acres of corn, and then my back went out in the middle of June while I was working on the John Deere. Add Spring planting, and the loss of my favorite horse Old Blue and it adds up to one busy month. Well folks, it's been almost six weeks since I was in the theatre. It was great to get cleaned and polished again and head out to a movie.
I called Owen Craner and we went to see Austin Powers, the Spy who Shagged Me. It was just what the doctor ordered. What a fun movie. Just as in the first Austin Powers film, there were a number of scenes that took my breath away with laughter. Owen and I split a gut watching this silly sequel starring Mike Myers. The humor in the film is silly and at some points gross, but we had a great time. Oh, behave!
The film was once again about the battle between super spy Austin Powers and his archenemy Dr. Evil, both played by Myers. With the help of a time traveling machine, the foes face off in 1999 and in 1969. Look for many familiar faces from the first film, as well as some fun cameos. Rob Lowe shows up as the young Robert Wagner character Number 2, and does a super impression of Wagner.
Many of the jokes and skits were senseless, but this film breaks with normal Hollywood tradition by being even better than the original. If you liked the first film, by all means make a beeline to this one. If the first film turned your stomach, then stay away, far away.
It's good to be back at the movies. Good start. Rooster, baby!
